Primary A
Welcome back to Primary A. It has been a great start to term 3 and I look forward to seeing those of you staying out of community returning to school in the coming weeks. We have an exciting term ahead of us and Mr Wilder and Miss Meagan are looking forward to sharing the fun with you all.

This term in Primary A, we will be continuing to develop our reading, writing, speaking and listening skills and letter/sound knowledge as well as incorporating more play based learning experiences within our literacy program. In Numeracy, we are working towards extending our counting, improving number recognition, creating patterns, sorting objects, naming 2D shapes and recognizing 3D shapes in our environment. We will be continuing to explore our emotions and friendships in PATHS, discovering the world of athletics in Physical Education and learning about the Eucharist and prayer during Religious education.

I hope that you have all enjoyed your holidays and have had the chance to have some rest and enjoy yourselves. I look forward to hearing stories about your holiday adventures.

See you all soon.

Mr Wilder.
Primary B
Hello and welcome back to Term 3 in Primary B. This term we are continuing to work on our reading, spelling and writing, adding and subtracting, measuring things and how to keep ourselves safe. We also learning about music, different kinds of families, how we celebrate and commemorate special days and improving our athletic skills. It has been a quiet start in Primary B this term, but I look forward to seeing everyone back at school soon happy and ready to learn.

Primary C
Welcome back to term 3 2019 from Senior Class. The end of last term was very exciting with Senior Class going on an overnight excursion to Billiluna School. The staff and students were very welcoming and students took part in NAIDOC activities including coolaman racing for the girls and spear throwing for the boys, all students went looking for ‘bush tucker’ and had an excellent meal of Kangaroo traditionally cooked, dampa and salad.

This term will be as exciting and interesting as last term. The term began with Matthius, Grace, Cheyanne and Miss Lynn receiving the Sacrament of Confirmation at Balgo church on the 25th of July. This will be complemented by a post-confirmation retreat to Balgo on Tuesday the 13th August for the people who were confirmed.
Senior class are making excellent progress in literacy lessons, not only reading writing and spelling but understanding what they read. They have been learning about the war between Troy and Greece, about Achilles and myths. The subject matter ties nicely with the history topic we are studying based on ‘the first fleet.’ Students will learn about the time around 1788 from the perspective of British settlers and Indigenous Australians. They will Role Play characters from the time and look at Primary sources from the period to write diary entries, make ships from clay for design and technology, dress up in clothes from the period and do lots of research. From the research students will create either a website or PowerPoint presentation to showcase their learning as part of the Digital Technologies Curriculum. The book we are studying is ‘Nanberry Black Brother White’ by Jackie French.

In mathematics students are using a range of resources and methods of learning such as collaborative learning in pairs and small groups including games, interactive activities, using number lines and 100 squares. The focus this term is addition and subtraction. The students will also take part in a guided inquiry ‘What stopped in the mud?’ based on using units of measurement and conduct a chance experiment.

For PATHS and Keeping Sake Curriculum the emphasis is on dealing with anger and finding ways to relax including breathing, mindfulness, imagining yourself in a calm place and using simple yoga techniques.

Yet again a very busy term with lots of learning, lots of fun and lots of creativity planned.

Miss Lynn. Senior Class Teacher

"Put away from you all bitterness
and wrath and anger
and wrangling and slander,
together with all malice, and
be kind to one another, tenderhearted,
forgiving one another,
as
God in Christ has forgiven you."
